Current Campaigns

Power Building | Multi-State Campaigns | Conference | Healthy Organization Initiative | Mentoring | Executive Director Training | Information Sharing

SELP’s multi-state campaigns coalesce action on issues that affect several states where coordinated state-level response is essential. Current campaigns include:

Federal Budget Campaign

The Federal Budget campaign emphasizes the importance of adequate funding for state environmental and conservation programs. SELP member groups partner with other progressive organizations to advocate for increased or maintained levels of domestic discretionary spending to fund environmental programs, advocate for increased state revenues, and develop strong grasstops programs for their organization. Current SELP participants are: Iowa Environmental Council, Minnesota Environmental Partnership, North Carolina Conservation Network and Oregon Environmental Council. For more information contact Marissa DeGroot, mdegroot at selp.org.

Energy Efficiency Campaign

As lawmakers in Washington, D.C. struggle with a federal approach to climate change, states continue to forge the path ahead on climate change policy, a key component being energy efficiency policy. In order to aid and collaborate these state efforts, SELP is bringing together SELP members across the country who are focusing on a similar package of enery efficiency policies. Each is advocating for state level action on building codes, funding mechanisms for energy efficiency retrofits, and/or greening government. With SELP support, participating groups will be able to strengthen their efforts through collaboration, information sharing, and expert assistance. If your organization is interested in participating in this campaign, please contact Marissa DeGroot, mdegroot at selp.org.

"When we were doubling Colorado's renewable energy sources we got up to the minute updates on what was going on in Minnesota (Xcel is also our big utility). This allowed us to go back into negotiation and ask for more - and to win it."
- Matt Baker, (former) Executive Director, Environmental Colorado
