Hilary Carroll, Grasstops Program and Conference Director (email: hcarroll at selp.org)

Hilary first came to SELP in 2004 as an intern just after graduating from Northland College with a degree in Environmental Studies, Public Policy. During her time at Northland, Hilary interned with the Nature Conservancy, co-authored a town land use plan, assisted in the creation of a watershed protection group, and was honored as a Morris K. Udall Scholar. Since moving to Madison, Hilary has interned with the River Alliance of Wisconsin on water quality issues and worked for the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters Institute as an organizer on issues such as air quality, renewable energy, and polluted runoff.

 

Bill Davis, Director (email: bdavis at selp.org)

Bill has worked in the environmental movement for 16 years. Bill DavisHe has served as the Executive Director of two SELP member groups, Wisconsin's Environmental Decade and Citizens for a Better Environment, for seven years; as a board member of the Environmental Support Center since its inception in 1991; and most recently as the Great Lakes Specialist for Environmental Defense (formerly known as EDF). In his various positions, Bill has been responsible for all aspects of an organization's operations, as well as program work such as litigation, legislative and administrative lobbying, and provision of internal legal counsel. He has worked on a wide variety of issues, including water and air toxics, contaminated sediments, solid waste, and pollution prevention. Bill has been with SELP since summer, 2000.


Melissa Gavin

Melissa Gavin, Finance and Business Director (email: mgavin at selp.org)

Melissa is currently a Masters candidate at the Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she is focusing on nonprofit management.  She completed her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies at Florida International University.  An active member of the community, she has been a regular volunteer for Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, a mentor for Take Stock in Children, and a Girl Scout leader for Biscayne Gardens Elementary. Melissa also worked as a fellow for Citizens for a Better South Florida in their Community Science Workshop, an after school program that brought environmental projects and instruction to inner city school children. Melissa has been with SELP since spring, 2004.


 

Michelle WatkinsMichelle Watkins, Membership Services Coordinator (email: mwatkins at selp.org)

Michelle joined the staff of SELP in April of 2008. Her responsibilities include organizing the annual conference and maintaining communications with member organizations. Michelle spent the previous seven years doing membership support and event planning at another non-profit coalition, the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault. She has also served on the planning committee and as the crew captain for the Wisconsin AIDS ride. Michelle currently serves as president of the board for the Madison Gay Hockey Association and recently guided that group through the successful process of becoming a 501c3 organization. She is not entirely comfortable referring to herself in the third person.
