Frequently Asked Questions

Can I join SELP as an individual?
SELP is a network of organizations, not individuals.

You can, however, join the SELP member organization in your state. Check out your state’s SELP member organization(s) by visiting their website or contacting them directly.

If you work for, serve on the board of, or know of an organization that would benefit from belonging to SELP and fits SELP’s membership criteria (see membership guidelines), please contact our Director, Bill Davis.

Can my group join SELP?
Please see SELP’s membership guidelines to determine your group’s eligibility, or contact Bill Davis for more information.

Does SELP work on Federal issues?
It is SELP’s mission to assist state level environmental advocacy movements. While many of our member organizations work on federal issues, SELP’s work is primarily focused on strengthening our members’ ability to educate the public about and take action on state level environmental issues - e.g., those affected by state legislatures, governors, and state administrative agencies.

Does SELP provide grants to environmental organizations?
SELP provides technical and financial assistance to our member organizations only, on a funds-available and as needed basis. If your organization is not a member and you do not fit the SELP membership criteria, but your are interested in receiving technical and organizational assistance via a small subsidy, please contact the Environmental Support Center.
