Annual Members’ Conference
Members are invited to attend the annual conference and receive significantly subsidized rates. The conference, which is specifically tailored to meet the needs of our member groups, is an opportunity to hone expertise on issues, enhance organizational capacity, share successful strategies and develop professional networks.
SELP Programs
Members have access to SELP programming and ongoing staff support designed to help organizations become smarter, more powerful, and better run.
Multi-State Campaigns
Members can participate in multi-state campaigns which coalesce action on issues that affect multiple states and where coordinated state-level response is essential to success. Benefits of campaign participation may include:
- Financial assistance for campaign planning and implementation
- Planning assistance from SELP staff, campaign participants and consultants;
- State specific polling and/or focus group research;
- Message development assistance;
- Feedback on and assistance in drafting model legislation;
- Facilitated strategy exchange and networking among campaign participants.
- Access to information relating to the multi-state campaign, such as polling research, proposed legislation, communications material, etc.
Peer Mentoring
SELP’s Peer Mentoring program provides professional development and transitional support to Executive Directors and senior staff who can benefit from in-person expertise of experienced peers. We offer matching services, travel reimbursement and mentor honoraria.
Information Exchange
In addition to the opportunities for information-sharing listed above, SELP further promotes the exchange of information through the following venues:
- Listserves, newsletters and conference calls
- Referral network for subject-matter experts, model strategies and other resources
- Periodic surveys of our members and dissemination of the compiled data on a variety of topics such as compensation practices, fundraising, membership services, etc.
- Analysis of trends, model state policies, programs and strategies
- Information and analysis on anti-environmental campaigns and policies being promoted in state legislatures, regulatory agencies and through Governors' offices
